Yeah, that's still going on. I did some research last night on how to get those highlights to pop, back to the airbrush this weekend...

But Templar is back in production as well...still need to do a value pass, and a detail pass before it goes to color.

Here's the colors for the stormtrooper...you can see I worked it with the white pencil to pull out the highlights to no avail....quite a mystery for me. Would a white grease pencil work? Sadly I don't have one handy...I'll put it aside until I get time to get out and pick one up.

I played air brush just bit this weekend. And I was a little disappointed that it didn't solve my highlight/white pencil problems. Not really sure what to do about it....I want a very crisp highlight with pencil, and not soft with the airbrush. I guess I'll just have to continue testing it out!

Here's the Vader, and one with a bit of digital enhancement and cleanup. He was my first doom-to-fail, as I didn't spend too much time on the drawing.

I got my new airbrush over the weekend, so in my spare time this week I'm drawing up some fun stuff to ruin while I try it out.

Chagrinnin' Chewbacca?

Happy Anniversary to me! And my up-to-seven strong readership after a year!

Yeah....anyways...keeps me motivated to get better.

So here's the final Chewbacca image, in what is now an annual event. It's come a long way from the first one, but he's still not right...that mouth/chin is tough! I also screwed up the brow with the highlights, it's shows too much of a flow instead of a bend at the top of the eyeline. There's always next year!

Well, tomorrow is the one year anniversary of the Bad Flip Blog, and since the first ever post was a Chewbacca portrait, I decided to make that the yearly project. Because he is hard for me to draw.

So here's the grays, I'll post the final tomorrow...

I think there's more work to be done with the highlights. I ordered proper airbrush stuff over the weekend, I've kind of reached my limit with the copic markers. It's tough to draw over them, and the limited opacity; I realize this isn't what they're designed for, so I'm upgrading to push myself more.

Still working on the Grand Prix painting, but I've had a couple of long days, so not much progress has been made, not enough for a post at least.

Working all day on the computer painting out finals gets laborious, so every once in a while I take a break and just doodle some stuff like this; a compilation of random stuff cobbled together from various scraps littering the office.

So I've started my big sloppy race car painting.

Here's the grayscale block-in...it's kind of big, so I'm just taking photos of it for the updates, I'll figure out how scan/photo it appropriately when I'm done.
