Draw, and RIDE!!!
Before the other day, I had done very few images for this story idea - here's an OLD one, exploring a robot horse for my cyborg 'boys to ride on, and shoot at each other whilst doing so.
So it's time to wrap this little series of doodles up, and put pen to paper to get the words a-flowin'...

Draw...Hawkeye!
This is where I turn it on it's ear a bit. So this guy, one of the villian's minions, decided to replace his face with a hawk mask. They do stuff like that in this world.
More than a little taken for the theme of Horus.

Draw!....wait! What?
What is all this mech sh*t doing on my cowboy, you might ask? C'mon, you know me by now. Did you really think I'd be writing a conventional cowboy story?
Cyborg Cowboys, people. Societal Breakdown. New Ice Age. It's happening...
...in my head at least.

More sloppy Cowboy art.
I got a thing for cowboys this week. I'm working up a to starting to write a Western, but for me I always draw out the images in my head first, then write around that. Just really basic sketches to get the creative juices flowing...

I said DRAW!
A quick 15 minute sketch, gone over again in ink with a small tip Sharpie. I'm having fun doing these sketches with that little pen, but the smell is giving me headaches!

Abandoned G1 Ironhide
He's not really abandoned, I just put it aside...for a loooong time. I'm double booked right now, so I'm looking for stuff to post, so sorry, here's some suck.
It's getting there, but there's SO MANY tiny details that are off, the whole thing isn't working. I may just finish it up for detail ideas, and then do an overlay to get a good image out of this...because it ain't happening the way it's going now.

Another Quick Pause on Cute.
It's like eating cotton candy with caramel syrup drizzled on it for two weeks, isn't it? Here's an ink drawing to get your mind off all the sweet I've been posting lately.

Bat Cats - Drawing
Nothing but a bad attitude, these cats.
In the few years of me doing this style, I don't think I've tried to come up with something for fire, we'll see how it goes...

Buttercats - Drawing
Yeesh, what did I get myself into? Pretty background heavy, this one. I need the practice, anyways. I like all the elements quite a lot...it should be fun.

Mer-Kitties - Drawing
From Air to Sea, the Mer-Kitties are getting their swim on. I'm pretty excited about this one, it's going to let me really test myself with creating a rich background with colors, by placing minimal lines that I usually use as shapes and guides. I might even experiment blending the mermaid's tail into the background as well, trying to create a sense of flow.
But on a technical standpoint, I lost my way a little with the penciling, I had to erase and redraw quite a bit, so some areas came out a little mushy. Obviously, I'll be digitally inking this, so it doesn't matter, but that's one of my weaknesses; I know that this piece won't be the final image, just a step along the way, so I tend to rush through, and at the end, there's parts that I wish I had taken more time with. As a stand alone piece, and as something that exists in reality, unlike the final digital image that will only exist as a print, I usually end up with good drawings, rather than great drawings.
It's something I'm working on...

Sky Kitties - Drawing
Here's the final drawing for the Sky Cherub Kitties - took awhile to figure out how to get a nice flowing twist of fabric, to make that composition work out the way I had it in my head. It's pretty much ready to go to digital ink, but I think I may need to readdress the left wing of the figure, I'm not sure it's 'correct' within the context of the style.
Usually it's a good idea to draw the whole thing out, then crop it in to the composition, but I got so focused on the robes and clouds, it kind of got left behind...but it still might work. I may do an overlay drawing to isolate it, and make sure it looks good on it's own.

Just a little bit more Cute, but with some Mean.
Getting Cute overload. I decided to do one more, an antithesis of the happy go lucky Kitty Cherubs, and show the dark side. The claws, the lazy indifference...the buttlicking. The series of 3 Cutes is for the wife, this one's for me.

Even more Cute...
And now the third in the series, a fairy with some Flutterby Kitty Cherubs, in a forest scene. This was meant to be the 'Land' scene; I went with butterfly wings, reluctantly. I thought of frogs, turtles, lizards, but they all looked too weird, or at least didn't quite fit the aesthetic I was going for. I figured butterflies don't get too far off the ground...but I might try to keep working at it, and actually sit down and do sketches of those other animals, just to see what I come up with.
In the lower left, I did try a Kitty-corn - so you can see what I mean about it being a little 'off.' I thought it was funny and interesting, but it seemed to complicate the simplicity I had in the other ones.
But the mer-kitty and winged kitty ideas seem to work...those other ideas kind of have a mad scientist vibe going, a Four-Assed Monkey type deal...if you know what I mean.
