Too busy to post something new...

Here's a Flash image, not good enough for the main site, but something I don't think has been shared at all, it's over a year old...and it's not the greatest.

Hulk versus X-23 page 01 inked.

I know, I know, skipping around! I added in a new panel to this page that affected two other pages, so give me a break...I'm just trying to make it better, stop yelling at me!

Hulk versus X-23 page 04 inked.

Finally. that last panel got started last Thursday, been too busy to finish. Plus I decided to add some snow-capped mountains in the distance, so I had to figure out how to make that happen in this particular style. Back to work...

Something Older...

All my time this weekend was spent on getting my website update ready for 'my guy.' Page 4 of Hulk is nearly finished, I just have to do the background of the last panel, so it will be up tomorrow at the latest.

These images are characters designs I'm using as inspiration to write a time jumping story. I'm not really a writer, so sometimes I draw the ideas that I can't seem to put into words, to help get over the writers block. In this case, I see the main character in costume, it makes it easier for me to write stories about him in the location he's trapped in. I doubt that these designs would last much past this point...

The right one is fake!

Here's the final image using the copic markers. What did I learn? Don't cut so deep when making masks, and don't use black unless you really mean it. Over all I'm really happy with it, and in real life it's a nice bright and contrast-y image. In digital life, you see everything close up. So I removed the cut lines, toned down the blacks, and brought out some highlights. From two feet away you don't see any of it, zoomed in on the computer, you see tons of accidents. It's been deemed site-worthy, but it needed a little digital cleanup before I use it to represent myself.

We'll keep this little secret between us, won't we?

On the next for-real test, person (no mask!) with a background; I'm thinking it's going to be Spock. I've never in my life made a Star Trek picture, so why not?

Copic markers, Tuskan airbrushed...

Here's the Tuskan Raider drawing airbrushed with those bitchin' Copic markers. Now I need to find time to do the colored pencils over top!

Hulk versus X-23 page 02 inked

I'm skipping around, I decided to add another panel to the first page, I thought it needed a long establishing shot, so here's the page 2 inks...

Hulk versus X-23 Cover Final!

So I took a longer lunch to finish off the shading and highlights, now on to page one...

Hulk versus X-23 cover Inks and Flats

Here's the cover image inked, and with the flat colors laid in. Still need to do the shading, and figure out what to do with the background.

Back to the Copic markers stuff...

Here's a proper drawing setup for that airbrush technique I'm working on. So there.

I don't know when I'll get to it, I need to get started on the HX23 inks, and that whole work thing gets in the way. This week though, I promise!

Hulk versus X-23 cover layouts

The one on the right is the winner. I liked the Hulk from the first one, but the X-23 blew, so I sketched out another pose that works much better overall. I'm a little bummed I didn't show her face, but I'm thinking that the claws define the character.

It's a take on the panel from page 3, but I had wanted to do a full page version, with an equally enraged Hulk - that idea didn't quite fit in the story, so here it is 're-imagined' for your pleasure.

Hulk versus X-23 page 05

Pencil layout for page five of five.

Observant people might notice that a gestation tube is missing from the first page, in the door frame. That's why we do layouts folks! I couldn't stage it to fit both in; I guess I really only need one anyways, right?

Work work work!

Too busy to put time into the Hulk thing so far...here's a Boba Fett sketch to tide you over. I swear this isn't going to be an all Star Wars art blog - I swear, I swear!

Blew it.

I'm new to the whole non-photoshop airbrush thing, and I screwed up the piece. Such is life! The scan makes it look even worse, so I'm on to the next thing. I have to switch gears and do an animated style sequence, I'll get back to the airbrush practice by the end of the week hopefully.

Stay tuned for Hulk vs. X-23, animated style showdown!

Chewbacca's HARD!

More testing out this technique...I suck at Chewbacca. Hopefully I can save it in the next couple of stages. Pencil drawing, copic airbrush coming up next...

First post! Grinnin' Chewbacca.

I got a set of Copic markers with the airbrush attachment. It's super sweeeet! Combine that with some prismacolor pencils, and here's a Star Wars piece. Still playing around with the technique; I see a lot of potential, but tons of mistakes still to be worked out.
