Transformer 09 - Gun Arm 2!
Well that gun arm is done for now...I'm moving on to the rest instead of staring at the gun and doing nothing; I'll figure it out when I do the next pass with the additional armor.
So I moved on to cleanup, and depth. I finished the arm joint, and did the door and shoulder pads, continuing on with the upper torso and head...

Transformer 07 - More Comping!
Still need to finish of the gun. Kind of went round and round about have a hand hold it, or just a gun arm, or combo hand built into the gun...still working it out.
But he's looking a lot better, has some weight and form. So after I work out the gun, the next step is to do a big cleanup on all the comped elements, almost a total paint over to get everything color corrected and fitted all together. That completes the first pass.
After all this, I have to make up more body elements to cover stuff, especially in the legs and hips, and then another pass at comping, to fill in areas that might need help. Also realizing what all the black filler will become, as well. But that's future posts!

Transformer - For a Baby!?!
I'm a bad blogger this week, just too much work, haven't had time to do 'play' work this week at all. I'll have lots of time this weekend though, so expect more competent posting next week.
Keeping within the theme, though, here's some art I made for my producer on the Transformers game. He and his wife had a baby girl during the course of the project, so I made this to be printed on a onesie; ball on front, babybot on the back.

Transformer 01
Every now and again I get asked how I designed the Transformers for the movie video game, and now that the time to get started on the sequel is coming up; I need to remind myself. I've been wanting to turn my car, a 1971 Mach I, into a transformer, and put it in an action pose.
I loved doing the designs, but the was never any time to do a fully rendered action shot, they were all turnaround exposed poses to send into production - cool looking, but a little lifeless. Plus they all had little twists here and there, to show details that might not be visible with the 'lens' I was using.
Here is the first set of sketches, I'm going to Vegas for four days, but I'll be thinking about the details, and post a second set of sketches when I get back. The little guy in the bottom middle is the pose, and the head might be some sort of bastardized Boba Fett helmet, by the way.

Blade Runner 01 - WIP
Since I spent nearly all my Xmas break playing with my Blade Runner box set, I'm a little inspired to use Deckard as a subject for my portrait test. Not so much exploring hair like I needed to, but I also needed to work on a large scale face, so here goes. This one is on an 11x14" sheet, so it's probably about as big as I'll ever get.
Still working out what I want to do with the background, and trying to figure out the best way do smoke...then touch-ups and blending for the final B&W drawing.
